Windsong
A 25' Amphibicon Class Sloop
(revised 09/24/2001)

For Particulars see the pages on the Amphibicon Class for photos of this boat see the Windsong photo album. There is standing headroom under a lifting top.

Designer/Builder: This class was designed and originally built Mount Desert Yacht Yard. The team that produced the concept was E. Farnham Butler and Cyrus Hamlin. This particular example is believed to have been built by Vator in Helsinki, Finland in 1959.

Construction: These hulls were built in glued strip construction with the interior structure and framing glued in place as well. This has proved to be very durable construction. One sometimes sees boats of this group of designs that have been horribly mistreated by idiots with disc grinders and disc sanders but aside from that they are usually in quite good condition.

Engine: 9.9 horsepower Johnson outboard

Tanks:

Electrical: VHF, depth sounder, refrigerator, microwave, 30 amp shorepower, Sumlog/speed, electric bilge pump, 2 deep cycle 6 volt batteries in series.

Accommodations: There are berths for four people. From forward you have the chain locker, then a very spacious comfortable forward cabin followed by the head. Next aft is the galley with sink, and stove. The main cabin has two quarter berths with a table between. The cockpit is roomy. The outboard well is right aft and houses the engine related gear nicely and unobtrusively. There is a propane 2 burner stove. It is recommended that any buyer remove the propane stove and replace it with an alcohol or kerosene stove. There is interior carpet.

Sails & Rigging: There is a main, #1 & #2 Genoas, working jib, and a spinnaker.

Equipment Reported: Danforth anchor, manual bilge pump, steel folding cradle, removable table, cockpit cushions.

Comments
: The owner reports that over the past three seasons the exterior was fully stripped and repainted. He suggests that the interior could still use some trim work. While the present sails are, in his opinion, serviceable, he would think that new sails would be something a new owner would want to start budgeting for.
