Howard Chappelle in his book Yacht Designing and Planning seems to be pretty critical of the shape of buttock -as I would suggest seen- in the Colin Archer type of double ender. He claims, there neither seaworthy nor fast.(p.143, last paragraph). Chappelle concludes, "the run is too short for speed, and that seaworthiness is probably impaired. The shorter the run the more liable a hull is to being pooped in a heavy following sea." However, popular opinion seems to suggest deep bodied double enders like Colin Archer, Eric, Tahiti Ketch, etc., are legendary for there seaworthiness. I would like to give Chappelle the benefit of the doubt here, but it leaves me to wonder no less.
