The construction hours given for the Silver Gull Series seem very high for professionaly built boats. These hours are way out of line relative to the statement made in the Silver Gull Series Overview that these boats could be built in one sixth the time of carvel, cold molded or sheathed strip construction. As an example, a Paul Gartside 40' double ended cold molded design quotes approximately 9000 hrs to complete by an amateur builder. The hours given match those for boats of similar length built using carvel, cold molding or sheathed strip. Why?
