I have no doubt that these vessels could be built in the low end of these time ranges. But one reason that I'm very careful about giving building times realistically is that many designers quote ridiculously low times for whatever reason. Perhaps some haven't building experience. Perhaps some don't count hours that they for one reason or another wouldn't choose to charge for. Basically I include all the time you spend in the shop on the project. You do save a great deal of time on the hulls of these vessels. If you have panels pre-cut and scraphed to length by your plywood supplier you save even more. However remember that the bare hull of any vessel is probably well under 20% of the time spent on building a complete boat. You can save a huge amount on the hull building time which gives you a good psychological boost, but that doesn't gain you a thing on the rest of the vessel. What this all amounts to is that you can trust me to give realistic figures from our own experience in running boat yards. We don't give "optimistic" figures to try to sell more plans. Plywood boats particularly appeal to people on the completely illusory idea that an immense amount of time will be saved on the WHOLE boat.
