This is something that befuddles me. I'm aware of the speed vs WL business. It's stated in the Farthing's specifics that her top speed is 4.4Kts. The 8ft micro cruiser I sail, even when loaded for two weeks, can do 4Kts reliably. I've even seen her do 4.5, but steering gets sloppy. Why is there so little difference in speed when Farthing's WL is so much longer?
