To improve a jagged curve: use anti-aliasing. To improve jagged edges of surfaces: change the mesh settings to smooth. (tools/ properties/ mesh) For ship design in Rhino you don't really need a high end card. Only when you have a lot of parts in one model you might need a high end card. I have a AMD 64 X2 4200 with 1 GB and a €30 graphics card, working with two 19" screens. Working with history etc is no problem. Only when I import 2D autocad drawings with ten-thousands of lines I can notice a slow down in speed. Rhino uses one core, so going for a multi core does not speed up processing. Flamingo will use all cores for rendering. (conclusion: you're better of buying a low end solution, and use the money saved for the Rhino Cad course :) )
