Personally, I havn't tried this in Rhino yet but if it works for 2d chines and sheers I don't see why it wouldn't work for diagonals. Basically my idea is this, expand your diagonals in 2d in both plan and profile view. Run the CR2View command and pick each, which should develop a 3d curve like it does for 2d sheers and chines following the same method. I can't say I've ever seen diagonals expanded in profile view other than what I've done myself in AutoCad, but I've heard it mentioned in Douglas Phillips-Birt and have been meaning to ask Tom about it.
