An interesting idea. We made a cargo hold in Crown Jewel. We sealed off the area that is shown as a forward head in the accommodations plan. We have a separate pipe there from the big bilge pump. (Pipe is better than hose for long runs.) It is not self draining but sealed off with a watertight bulkhead. It should be simple enough to make self draining holds with watertight hatches that you can open from above. But on a really small boat it is a waste of space, I suppose.
