Dear ,

As an attendee at previous meeting, a representative of an identifiable interest group, a possible interested party, or an important resource person I have been asked to invite you to participate in our next session. As a representative of the interest group indicated in the letter as addressed to you we hope you will arrange for additional members of your group to attend. Please contact other people you feel should participate and urge them to attend.

This meeting will be in the Marine Technology Center’s Multipurpose Room on Wednesday July 30th, 1997 from 8:30am to 4:30pm in the afternoon, with an hour lunch break.

This is an important meeting for you to attend to make sure your input is included. It is further very important for us to get input from as wide a spectrum of Eastport people as possible as we are moving toward the development of a strategy that will translate into action plans.

The agenda of the meeting is:

Morning Session

1-1/2 hours on the External Assessment discussing what information we need to complete an evaluation of the social, political, economic and physical environment in which Eastport exists.

1-1/2 hours on the Internal Assessment discussing what information we need to complete an evaluation of the social, political, economic and physical environment within Eastport itself.

Both sections of the morning session are to answer the following questions in order to build an understanding of the information we need to gather, coordinate and reconcile:

What do we need to know?

What do we need to do?

What do we need to do it?

What is the time frame?

Areas of interest to be discussed:

Community Cooperation & Tourism

Education & Youth

Infrastructure

Marine Resources & Environment

Small Business

Transportation

Afternoon Session

Edit the two assessment documents and set priorities by objectives and the indicators that will measure our progress on the resulting information gathering. People will be assigned to get the information, facts and statistics for the next meeting which will report on the results of the research mandated by the first day long meeting and develop an Initial Strategy to determine a structure to carry on the Strategic Planning process.

All those who have participated regularly so far are very concerned to bring the broadest range of ideas into this process and we hope very much that you will attend. If you like you may have your name and telephone number added to the list for a reminder call.

Sincerely,

Thomas A. MacNaughton, Typist
